The client manufactures Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
systems and related software. The client's operations
spread over the US and Taiwan.
The requirement was to build a QA system that is open
and flexible, so that tasks can be automated without
compromising the architecture. It was also required
to open up the system to third party providers, integrators
and customers.
The product has a flexible and open architecture allowing third party additions of software tools and instruments. The solution supports yield enhancement methodologies for semiconductor companies using a WAN operation.
The entire engineering team of the client was in SRA.
QA activities were an integral and important component
of the process. SRA interacted closely with the client's
team during the development process and test plan and
test cases were written once the Software Requirements
Specifications (SRS) was ready.
Based on the test cases, test programs / test scripts were written and the tests were run using an automated testing tool. These scripts also helped in running regression tests during subsequent releases of the software. SRA made use of a suitable bug tracking system to report bugs identified and to track the bugs to closure.
