The client is a TX based provider of software solutions
and services to the retail industry in US.
SRA has provided a number of products and solutions
to this client. These can be categorized into four application
areas:
Application 1: The client has hardware
at the gasoline pumps that allows swiping of credit
cards. They also provide authorization services that
allow the credit card data to be transmitted securely
to the authorization system. The authorization system validates
the card through links with related banks. The system
permits the gasoline dispenser to accept or reject the
card based on validation. It also allows for necessary
debit for the gasoline requested. SRA was involved in
the development/extension of authorization components.
Application 2: The client has convenience
stores with car wash services with credit card usage
facilities. On successful approval by the authorization
software at the fuel dispenser, the system connects
to an E10 controller related to the car wash. This allows
for a customer to decide whether a car wash
service is required. If yes, it links to the hardware
of the car wash system and gets an acceptance number.
Using this number, the customer can make entries into
the car wash controller that initiates an automatic
car wash. SRA was involved in the development of the
entire car wash module.
Application 3: The client required a
standard Point-of-Sale (POS) application that takes care of
the application requirements at an individual department
store. This allows for transfer of information to and
from the chain's central system at its Head Quarters.
It also provides credit card validation services as
in application 1. SRA was involved in the development
of a POS application that is part of client's product
suite.
Application 4: Client's club membership
solution provides membership card validation services.
A club member can use the membership card across many
outlets for purchases/availing services. However,
when a card is presented at an outlet, one needs to
make a validation check. The client provides customized authorization
check services through authorizer software. SRA was involved in the development
of authorizers for BJ cards, Wal-Mart cards, and also
created a host simulator for BJ cards.
In addition to the development of software for all
the above applications, SRA was also maintaining their applications.
