The client is a leading University located in GA.
SRA delivered an Intranet based system-asset management
tool based on client-server architecture. The tool manages
the software assets of thousands of nodes. Every node
is installed with the client software that gathers the
software and hardware information and stores in an XML
file. The XML file is moved to the shared folder to
be processed by the server, which parses the XML file
and stores into the Database.
An intranet web site was created that enables the administrators
to generate reports. The administrators can also manage
the nodes through the Remote Desktop Activator module
linked to the web site. The tool was highly flexible
since administrator can configure the scheduling of
data collection at the node and the individual data
to be collected.
