Processes for Migration

SRA’s vast experience in re-engineering business applications is executed using a methodology-based approach that is tailored to individual customer and project needs. SRA has formalized this experience into a structured methodology called RENEW (Re-Engineering & migration Execution Workplan) and has successfully deployed this in several projects.

The RENEW methodology is platform independent and could be deployed for IBM mainframe (MVS/ESA, OS/390) / other proprietary systems as well as for open systems (flavors of Unix/Windows/Windows NT).

RENEW addresses the following types of re-engineering and migration projects:

Web enabling existing applications
Application conversions from 2-tier to n-tier
Architecture conversions to structured/object oriented/distributed
OS Migration from Windows platforms to different UNIX flavors or vice versa
Database migrations from one database architecture to another and one RDBMs to another (including IMS, IDMS or ADABAS to DB2)
Language conversion from legacy to open systems (including from PL/1 to C or COBOL, MVS Assembler to C/COBOL, old version of COBOL to new version including OS/VS to ANSI)
CICS conversion – from macro based to command based
Porting to IBM OS/390 from other mainframes/UNIX/ Windows Systems
Porting from IBM non MVS platforms (like DOS/ESA) to OS/390
