  SRA’s expertise in architecture change, OS & database migration to the benefit of a reputed CT based International Tax Management firm
 

The CT based client is an expert in the area of International Tax Management and leases out its tax management package to many Fortune 500 companies.

The International Tax Management System had to be re-engineered from legacy architecture to 3-tier client/server architecture. Maintenance and enhancements were becoming increasingly difficult due to lack of support for the legacy technology and due to absence of documentation.

The re-engineering posed a number of challenges to SRA as highlighted below:

 
  • Except for source code and user manual no other documentation was available
  • The architecture was a hierarchical database that had rows for columns & columns for rows, from a relational table point of view
  • There was extreme time pressure to complete the re-engineering, as it was critical to hit the market with the new version to gain competitive advantage
 

The re-engineering involved conversion from hierarchical type Revelation Basic to multi-tier, NT/SQL and VB. A strategic decision was taken that re-engineering would be done in a manual mode for want of tools in the market & time to market being critical. SRA successfully utilized its RENEW methodology to deploy the new system.
